Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of American Canyon Residents Directory. By using the pages, you agree to the terms below. If you do not accept them, do not use the reference or its linked tools.

1. What This Reference Is

American Canyon Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with American Canyon, Napa County, and California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with the American Canyon City Clerk, Napa County, any court, library, archive, or other records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use Rules

Use these pages only for lawful purposes. You may not use them or any linked result to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or impersonation
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the content at scale
  • Interfere with page operation, security, or availability

3. No Consumer Report

American Canyon Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following sections. Nothing on these pages, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. None of it may be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Services

County, city, state, federal, library, archive, and third-party portals have separate terms, privacy practices, fees, and availability. Sponsored search tools are operated by their providers. American Canyon Residents Directory is not responsible for a destination's content, data handling, price, outage, or result.

5. No Warranty

The reference is provided “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a page, link, record description, fee, coverage date, portal, or result is accurate, complete, current, secure, or continuously available. Confirm important information with the office that holds the record.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource, including an action taken from a record found through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the operators harmless from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.

8. Original Materials

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief attributed excerpt is permitted. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not permitted without authorization.

9. Revisions to Terms

Terms may be changed by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use after the posting date means that you accept the revised terms to the extent permitted by law.

10. Access Restrictions

The operators may block or limit access when a user violates these terms, abuses a linked tool, threatens security, or interferes with the reference. The restriction may occur without advance notice.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without applying conflict-of-law principles. Public-record requests discussed in the reference are subject to the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000. California privacy rights relevant to data handled by a website appear in Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. These references do not change a custodian's separate rules for a government record.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The invalid part will be applied as far as the law permits.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Requests for copies, corrections, or restricted records must go to the responsible Napa County, American Canyon, California, or federal custodian.
